Kalmthoutse Heide

Less than twenty minutes by car (or 45 minutes by bike) from the cabin, you’ll find yourself on the edge of the Kalmthoutse Heide. This beautiful natural area consists of heathlands, ponds, forests, and sand dunes, ideal for a scenic walk or bike ride. The Grenspark is accessible at several points, with some official entrances. Hemelrijk Entrance is located near Essen. Address: Moerkantsebaan 50, Essen.

Ice cream farm

If you’re fond of ice cream, you really must visit Ice Cream Farm de Gerda Hoeve. Located just a short 13-minute bike ride or 8-minute drive away, this cozy farm offers delicious ice cream made in a traditional way with only natural ingredients, using fresh milk and cream. Besides tasty ice cream, you’ll find a lovely terrace, animals to visit, and a playground for the little ones. Don’t forget to check out their ice cream display, where you can also buy tubs of ice cream to take back to Woodsy! Just remember to pedal back to the cabin. Address: Het Dreefje 3, 4721 PL Schijf.

De Bosrust

There’s no shortage of playtime fun here! About a 10-minute walk from Woodsy (or a 2-minute bike ride), you’ll find De Bosrust, an outdoor play paradise for kids. It’s also the perfect spot for parents to keep an eye on the little ones from the terrace. Next to the playground, there’s a corn maze that’s open to everyone in July, August, and September. You can even ride your Roetz bike through the maze! So, don’t forget to grab your bike from the shed. And if the kids don’t want to leave, De Bosrust has an extensive brasserie menu.
